Communication is fundamental to quality of life. KAAMI's Speech Pathologists assess and treat a wide range of communication and swallowing difficulties, working with participants to develop functional communication skills, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, and safe swallowing strategies.

What We Offer

How we deliver Speech Pathology

  • Communication Assessment

    Comprehensive assessment of speech, language, literacy, and social communication to identify needs and inform therapy goals.

  • AAC Systems

    Assessment, prescription, and training for augmentative and alternative communication devices and strategies.

  • Swallowing Assessment

    Clinical swallowing assessment and management for participants with dysphagia, including mealtime management plans.

  • Social Communication

    Therapy targeting social skills, pragmatic language, and conversation skills for community participation.

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) refers to any method of communication that supplements or replaces speech. This includes communication boards, speech-generating devices, and apps. KAAMI Speech Pathologists are experienced in assessing for and training AAC systems.

  • Yes. Speech Pathologists are trained in literacy development and can provide assessment and therapy for reading, writing, and spelling difficulties.

  • Speech Pathology is funded under the Capacity Building — Daily Activities budget. AAC device funding is typically under Capital Supports — Assistive Technology.
